The Supporting the Choice to Die at Home campaign was launched in England at a press conference in Westminster, London, March 1, 2004, attended by the then Secretary of State for Health Dr John Reid.

Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Medical Advisor, Dr Teresa Tate said:

“Our survey shows that the majority of people would like to die at home, but currently only around a quarter of cancer patients achieve this wish.”

The charity has also released an economic report showing that caring for more patients at home would release funds which could be used elsewhere in the NHS.
